Our adoptable cats and kittens
are very friendly, healthy and of course adorable! They have received excellent care and lots of love from the FFO volunteers.
Before adoption, all cats and kittens receive their basic veterinary care and any additional vet care that may arise on an
individual basis. The basic veterinary care we provide includes screening for common cat diseases, viruses, and parasites
(including FeLV-feline leukemia, FIV-feline aids, intestinal worms, and diseases like panleukapenia), their first FVRCP vaccine,
basic deworming (and additional deworming for roundworms and tapeworms if needed), treatment for fleas and earmites (if necessary),
and they are spayed/neutered and microchipped. All these procedures are included in our adoption fee of $65.00. Depending
on their age and the amount of time they have spent in foster care, our cats and kittens may have also received any or all
of the following... additional FVRCP booster vaccines, a rabies vaccine, feline leukemia vaccines.
We love our kittens and want
to make sure they go to good homes, which is why all prospective parents must complete an adoption application and agreement.
We do not do same-day adoptions, because we feel that this lessens our chance of placing our animals with impulse adopters.
We believe that it is best to allow potential adopters to have some time to be sure they are ready for the commitment of adopting
a new family member. This also gives the adopting family an opportunity to make their home ready for a new addition. Our adoption
policy and procedures help to ensure that the kittens we adopt out are in good health and ready to go home with their new
parents. Our complete adoption procedure is outlined on the first two pages of our adoption application. Please download and
complete our application if you are interested in adopting from our organization. Completed applications can be emailed to
us or faxed to 916-372-2049. You can also stop by any of our Davis Farmer's Market booths and complete an adoption application
there.
We are always looking for
safe outdoor homes for some of our feral cats that need to be relocated as well as some of the kittens in the foster program
that fail to be completely socialized. We still provide all of the regular veterinary care that is included in our adoption
fee for a reduced adoption fee. These reduced adoption fees ($40 for a feral cat in need of relocation and $50 for an
outdoor cat or kitten that is semi-social) help to minimally offset the costs of the veterinary and foster
care these cats
and kittens have received. While these cats and kittens need safe permanent homes, they will not want a lot of attention.
The attention they may solicite will depend on how feral they are and to what extent, if any, they were socialized.
All that they require is a guardian to care for them (provide food, water, shelter, and veterinary care when it is necessary)
and keep watch over them. If you are interested in providing a home to healthy outdoor cats or kittens, please complete
an adoption application and email it to us.
