Who We Are
The
Feral Feline Organization is a student-based, non-profit group that started out at the UC Davis campus but has since branched
out. We are a fairly young organization (almost 2 years old), but we are growing steadily, enlarging our network and expanding
our efforts of helping the feral cat population. We are currently recognized as California tax exempt and are in the process of becoming
federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit. Our three main goals are:
1. Fostering and
socializing feral kittens in order to adopt them out to loving families
2. Trap, Neuter
and Return (TNR) adult feral cats to stop the breeding cycle.
3. Raising awareness
of the feral cat population and fundraising for the cause.
We currently work to trap/neuter/return (TNR) adult feral cats in Yolo County. We also
trap and rescue feral kittens, socialize and/or bottle-raise them, and adopt them out. Our efforts to TNR adult feral cats
allow us to screen them for any feline diseases, vaccinate them, and alter them so that they can not continue to reproduce.
All of this reduces the spread of diseases and overpopulation of feral cat colonies as well as keep people's outdoor pet cats
safer and healthier. Our efforts to remove feral kittens from colonies allow us to socialize them so that they can become
loving members of caring families instead of growing up with a difficult life out in the wild. As foster homes become available
in our organization, we continue to branch out to other organizations (such as the SPCA and local shelters) & move some
of their overloaded kittens into our rescue program. Newly adoptable foster cats are posted on our PetFinder account as they
become available for adoption; check periodically to see who has become available
Where You Can Find Us
We have an informational
table at Farmers Market in Davis on Wednesdays from 2pm to 6pm. We usually have adoptable kittens/cats there, but we
always have pictures of our adoptable kittens and cats in our adoption portfolio, as well as friendly FFO officers and volunteers
to answer your questions, distribute informational pamphlets on feral cats and our organization, and collect any donations
(money or supplies). We are also at the Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm (refer to schedule for dates), however there will not be any kittens/cats there, as we do our adoptions at PetsMart on Saturdays.
Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 9:30-2pm at the Natomas
Marketplace PetsMart (Truxel Road exit on I-80). Click on our schedule link for exact days and times.
